Village mosque between Istanbul and Sofia

In the Nineteenth Century both Bulgaria and the European area of Turkey were part of the Ottoman Empire. Islam was the official religion throughout the Empire, and the effects of this are visible today.

(I am not certain if this mosque was in Turkey or Bulgaria. As both counties have large Moslem communities, it could have been either.)
