Mount Ararat in Eastern Turkey

Mount Ararat Ever since we had now crossed the border into Turkey, Mount Ararat had dominated the view to the north of the road. But it had often been obscured by cloud and this was the first opportunity to take a photograph.

Mount Ararat is associated with the Biblical story of Noah and his Ark. Some individuals maintain that traces of the Ark exist to this day on Mount Ararat. Without wanting to enter into that particular controversy - where reason will always lose out to belief - the thing that struck me was that compared to the mountains of the Himalayas or even the Rockies or the Alps, Mount Ararat is very small beer.
