Buttes in Iran

Buttes between Ahvaz and Kermanshah
 
We had now left the Khuzestan desert north of Ahwaz and the Iranian landscape had changed. The road to Kermanshah was now a wasteland of loose rock and towering buttes. The buttes were ringed with scree slopes which had been produced by eons of disintegration and weathering.
