GLS / 1981 / Cuillin Ridge / Skye
The Inaccessible Pinnacle is on the summit of Sgurr Dearg. It can be climbed easily from the south, just a scramble really. The descent is by a steep abseil on its north side, somewhat of a test of nerves for those who have never abseilled before. The Pinnacle is easily bypassed, but doing the 'In Pin' is an essential part of any Cuillin Ridge traverse.

The Inaccessible Pinnacle is always busy during the peak climbing weeks in Skye, and that day was no exception. Naturally most of the climbers were wearing harnesses but we were travelling light and had to dispense with such gear. A sling, a carabinier, and a Sticht plate did just as well.
