Becca di Moncorvé and the Schiena d'Asino

On the extreme right is the Becca di Moncorvé (3876 m). The area between the rocky outcrop in the centre of the photograph and the Becca di Moncorvé is known locally as the Schiena d'Asino - the "donkey's back", presumably because the two pinnacles within it resemble a saddle.

The route traverses right towards Becca di Moncorvé and then makes for the rocky outcrops on the edge of the West face of Gran Paradiso. The exact route varies depending on the condition of the bergschrund that seperates Gran Paradiso from the glacier.
