Starting the descent from Gran Paradiso It was time to get off Gran Paradiso before the snow softened, although there were still people slowly trudging up to the summit.

The bergschrund between Paradiso and the snow covered slopes of the glacier is visible here, although I doubt if many climbers even noticed it as the route across has become so compacted.
