Campsite at Aosta, Italy
It was August when we were in Aosta, the height of the tourist season. The campsite was crowded, but the camping facilities were excellent. Our tent and car were tucked away under the trees - the orange Vango Force 10 and red TR7.

Continental campsites were generally far superior to the camping facilities found in the UK during the 1980s. It was going to be difficult to go back to the British way of doing things - all too often a campsite was a wet field in Snowdonia, with a single water tap, and a toilet if you were lucky. If the bog actually worked, that was a bonus.
