Railway halt between Xian and Chengdu

As explained in the previous photograph we were travelling from Xian to Chengdu where we were to embark on a Yangtze River cruise ship for the cruise to Chongqin and the famous Yangtze River Three Gorges.

However the train taking us from Xian to Chengdu came to a halt at this remote railway station. Heavy rains had washed away a section of track to Chengdu and the train could not proceed. Hours went by but eventually a decision was taken for the train to return to Xian, which we reached in the early hours of the following morning.

The power of the rain storm is evident from the photograph. The railway station's roof tiles have been ripped away, and the shovel leaning against the wall had been used to clear away the debri.
