A Wuhan street scene
This photograph was taken in a Wuhan side street on a walk through the city on the day of my arrival.
Wuhan in August is very, very hot, and shorts were standard.
Wuhan appeared much more cosmopolitan than Xian. I didn't see a single other European on my walk,
but hardly anybody gave me a second glance.
In the more provincial city of Xian, I would have attracted a crowd of people who would have stood and stared,
which cound be very disconcerting.
But Wuhan was a busy industrial city and people had better things to do than stare at Europeans.
