Monument to the People's Heros

Monument to the People's Heros in Tiananmen Square The Monument to the People's Heros is in Tiananmen Square.

The monument is composed of a central obelisk about 37 metres (120 feet) tall standing on a base with a series of bas-relief panels, each one depicting an incident from the Chinese revolutionary period 1840 to 1949. On the south side is an enscription written by Zhou Enlai, and on the north one by Mao Zedong (Mao Tse-tung): "The Heroes of the People are immortal!"
