Ancient fortress in the Hajar Mountains of Ras Al-Khaimah

Fortress in the Hajar Mountains, Ras Al-Khaimah In 1963 Ann and I spent a weekend at at the British run experimental agricultural station in Ras Al-Khaimah, one of the smaller Trucial States. Today Ras Al-Khaimah is one of the United Arab Emirates.

This photograph was taken from within the ruins of a hill-top fortress in the Hajar Mountains. As can be seen from the photo, there is a narrow coastal plane between the mountains and the sea.
