Dubai Creek

Dubai Creek Dubai creek is a salt water inlet. The sea and Dubai City is at the northern end. (To the right in the photo.)

The creek divides Dubai City into two, with old Dubai on the west bank, and the more recent conurbation of Dera on the east bank.

In the 1960s, to get to the other side of the creek meant either a journey out into the desert to circle it by land, or crossing by one of the small craft that acted as water taxis.
